REO originated from the initials of a man named Ransom Eli Olds in Lansing, Michigan. He founded the Olds Motor Works and Reo Motors. REO began producing mowers in 1946.
Moto-Mower Company
In 1919 Edwin George founded the Moto-Mower Company in Detroit, Michigan. In 1953 the company was acquired by the Detroit Harvester Company.
Eclipse Lawn Mower Company
The company was incorporated in 1904 as the Eclipse Lawn Mower Company. By 1930, the Eclipse Lawn Mower Company was the largest mower company in the world.
