Founded in 1896, we are now a fifth-generation, family-owned and operated local hardware store rich in history. We are committed to being “the Helpful Place” by offering our customers knowledgeable advice, helpful service and quality products. We provide services such as propane refill and exchange, custom paint mixing, screen and window repair, key cutting, a full line greenhouse and many more.
Historically hardware stores have often been designated ” general stores” filling a variety of needs for the community. In 2016 we grew once again, putting a twist on a modern general store, as “Water Street ” opened, named after the address of our first store in Wilmington, Illinois, in 1896. It is our goal to provide for our communities a unique selection of inspiring and delightful items for your home and lifestyle. Perhaps we can once again return to a time when a trip to the hardware store was a family event.
