Palo Alto is the original location of Hassett Hardware. Sort of. It actually all started in Campbell, in 1957 with Bob Hassett and his brother. They moved the store to Marsh Manor in Redwood City in 1961 and in 1993, Larry Hassett, Bob’s son, who’d been working in the hardware store since he was a kid and had taken over the business from is father years before, noticed that Palo Alto didn’t have its own hardware store and decided to do something about it. He gathered all his financial resources, took out a small business loan and purchased the property at 875 Alma street at the corner of Alma and Channing. The building was half demolished and it took them six full months to get it up and running – and Palo Alto Hardware was born. We have the most dedicated family of employees in the Bay Area and our Palo Alto location is no exception. Some of our team has been with us in this location for over 20 years and one of our best cashiers, Debbie, has been with us since the year we opened this store!
Palo Alto has a little bit of everything – it’s the perfect corner hardware store. We’ve been helping the community fix all manner of household items and small engines for two decades now. Bring us what you’ve got and we’ll do our best to solve your problem or fix what’s broken – and if we can’t, we’ll help you find someone who can. If you don’t see what you need, ask. If we don’t have it, we can transfer it from another store or order it for you.
