Vernon Dell Tractor Sales Company was started by two brothers Herb and Don Thompson in 1960. The Dealership still sits in its original location at 48346 Calcutta Smith Ferry Rd, East Liverpool, OH. near Calcutta since opening it’s doors.
The current location started out as Vernon Dell Dairy by the Thompson’s grandfather in 1891 and was a bottling dairy farm. Vernon Dell Dairy processed and manufactured many items for sale, and also distributed Sealtest dairy products in the East Liverpool area. The brothers sold the dairy to Superior Dairy of Canton in 1974.
The Thompson brothers began selling by Ford tractors and New Holland hay harvesting equipment. In 1963 they hired a salesman Bob Scott. In 1970 the fourth generation in the Thompson family, Jerry Thompson, began working full time at the business.
Today Vernon Dell Tractor in East Liverpool frequently referred to as “Your Outdoor Power Supermarket”, represents such major lines as New Holland, Massey Ferguson, Woods, Toro, Stihl, Honda ATV’s,Side by Sides & Honda Power products. We also stock parts for Briggs & Stratton, Kohler, Tecumseh, Poulan Pro, Landpride, H & S, Grasshopper and various other lines.
