Our roots can be traced to Ivan Cappel, who opened his John Deere dealership in Atlantic, Iowa in 1944. He, along with his two sons, Dick and Tom, transformed that business into Cappel’s Ace Hardware in 1968. Cappel’s in West Des Moines was opened in 2007 by Dick’s son Doug and his wife Jennifer, with the goal of carrying on the tradition of providing helpful service and selling quality merchandise that Ivan Cappel started almost 80 years ago.
