Allen’s Seed Store Inc.

Since 1953 when the store was first founded, Allens Seed has made great strides in the Turf Industry. Charles H. Allen, Jr. opened the store after thirty-one years of service at the Turf Research Station at University of Rhode Island. During his 45 years of ownership Mr. Allen discovered the world’s first selective crabgrass killer. Mr. Allen was also a large contributor to the development of several varieties of grass seeds. Mr. Allen passed away in 1999, and Erik Hagenstein became General manager. He later purchased the company in 2006.
