We are Bill and Deanna Cornell, and we established Cornell’s Country Store (as it’s known today) in 2001. We raised our three children in this store, and all took their turns working here, and as a matter of fact, they all still have a hand in the store in some way or another! Our daughters often accompany me to market so that we get a broad generational view (our rule is if at least two of us like it, we get it!).
They are also our models from time to time and help out with product photography, and our son helps out with the books (he’s a brainiac like his daddy!). The in-laws also get roped into working sometimes, too!
This family business began in a different location as a feed & seed store, “Cornell Feed,” in 1998 in a small garage behind another family business, Cornell Service (a full-service gas station). We are and have always been family owned and operated in rural Texas. We moved to our current location in 2001 and expanded again in 2020. We are still known locally as “the feed store.” But, take a look around, and you’ll see for yourself that we are so much more!
Bill was the first one with the vision for the feed store, and then I decided, “If I’m going to work in the feed store, I’m going to add some pretty things,” and here we are! We are a one-stop-shop for your Southern country lifestyle.
If you visit our brick & mortar store in the tiny rural Texas town of Clarendon, you will find four stores under one roof: Livestock Feed & Supply, Lawn & Garden, Apparel & Footwear, and Gift & Home Decor, plus a whole lot of this ‘n that. We really do offer a little bit of everything, you can’t buy the kitchen sink here, but you can fill it up while you’re wearing a new Cornell’s Country Store dress! Your friends will certainly give you a funny look when you tell them you got your dress at the feed store!
