T.W. Reiss, Inc.

Having worked for Wards Rents for 23 years, John Ward decided to sell the business in 1999 to a large corporate chain. We all tried working for this company, but all found that the corporate life was not for us. They strictly wanted to rent equipment and do away with sales and service. I could not turn away repair work on equipment we had sold to long term customers, so I was taking equipment home with me for repair. Six months had gone by. One day I was having lunch with Bill Campbell, who owned Vansant’s Power Equipment, right across the parking lot. He had expressed interest in selling the business. After much consideration, my wife and I decided that we couldn’t pass on this opportunity. We worked out an agreement to purchase his business. In March of 2000 T.W. Reiss, Inc. was formed, consisting of myself, my wife, Deb, and Mike D’ambrosia, a mechanic from Wards Rents.
